This journal article published in Global Health: Science and Practice examines the intersection of UHC and family planning efforts to understand to what extent selected countries in LAC have been successful in integrating family planning services and UHC-oriented schemes. Adopting a family planning lens, it examines access along the three dimensions of UHC: coverage, range of services (i.e., contraceptive methods), and financial protection. This insight helps to identify how different schemes have been successful in providing access to family planning services, as well as what barriers to access remain. Furthermore, by examining family planning prevalence across insured and uninsured populations, as well as across different insurance schemes, this analysis takes a first step toward understanding the causal relationship between insurance coverage and family planning access.
